Talking Point #67 – no law outside of shariah

In Matthew, Jesus Christ (of the Bible) stated that He was the fulfillment of the law:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
Matthew 5:17-18

Now we could talk about these verses for a long time but I’m going to keep it short while giving you something to ponder for your own learning sake.  First of all, let me point out that the church today is doing exactly half of what Jesus (of the Bible) says here – they think not!  The church is guilty of not reading the Bible and understanding what the One they claim to serve has said to them.  He clearly stated that He is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets, meaning that, and in agreement with several places in the Scripture, He is the One about Whom the law and prophets spoke!

When walking with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus (of the Bible), after His resurrection, gave the men a Bible study all about Himself using nothing but what we refer to today as the Old Testament Scriptures!  We pick up the story well after He had approached them and heard their tale of what had happened in Jerusalem just three days earlier.  Have a look at this:

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”
Luke 24:25-27

So here, Jesus (of the Bible) clearly annotates that the Scriptures are about Him and that He is the fulfillment of the law, the embodiment of the law, the Writer of the law, the law in its essence!  He is the law and the law is not done away with.

There are other places in Scripture where we read that Scripture is all about Him, for example:

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
John 5:39

I’ll let the diligent Bible student do his/her own research to find other places like this.  In fact, this is one of the best Bible studies one can do – to look for and find Him on every page of the Bible!!  In fact, all 66 books of the Holy Bible truly do speak of Jesus Christ (of the Bible, obviously)!  He is the very essence of all that is Holy and Good, and all that is God and that is from God, including the law by which we all must live (not for salvation, mind you, we’ll talk more about that in the next post).

But in the first quote above, Jesus (of the Bible) went on to say something which leads me to my decision that the church is guilty of “thinking not”.  He went on to say that “one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”  Well I have to ask, has all been fulfilled?  Not so that you could recognize it any way!  Make your own decision, then, about obedience and the law’s application to your life today.  Is He the law?  I think so.  Please study this more on your own as well.  And think…don’t be guilty of mindlessly following the crowd and “thinking not.”

Now lets see what Islam says about the law.  If you’ve read many of the previous posts from this site then you know of The Reliance of the Traveller, the book we’ve cited before for the traveling Muslim to use as his guidance of the law.  It is, essentially, the law book of Islam.  You can learn more about it by reading Talking Point #9, Talking Point #15, Talking Point #29, and Talking Point #40.  The book is billed as “A Classic Manual of Islam Sacred Law.”  I’m not kidding with you…go get a copy for yourself (search Amazon for it or just use the link I provided about and download the whole book in Adobe pdf format).  Read it for yourself.

I once knew a pastor who, rightfully so, told us how to recognize a cult.  First, they make Jesus less than deity (well, as we’ve pointed out before, in Islam, jesus (of the Quran) is not God, not the Son of God (see Talking Point #1), and not deity but merely a “messenger”).  Second, they need something, anything, besides (or sometime in addition to) the Bible to make their points!  The writings of Joseph Smith, for example, added into the Bible for the Mormon constitute something outside of the Bible from which the followers derive doctrine.  That’s scary!!

I don’t need to go much further, do I?  You’re already starting to see the point of this whole post, aren’t you?  If Jesus Christ (of the Bible) *is* the law and He specifically told us to “search the Scriptures for in them ye find me…“, how could the god of Islam need a separate book to outline the law to his followers?  If jesus (of the Quran) is the same as Jesus in the Bible, then Islam already has the law in Him.  BUT HE’S NOT!  And therein lies the problem with Islam (or one of the problems with Islam) – it is about lies and not about Truth.

The law was given to us even before God literally wrote the Ten Commandments on the tablets of stone at Mount Sinai.  The law existed before the beginning of time because, as John says in his opening lines,

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
John 1:1-3

The law is written in the hearts of those who have accepted the call to service to the King!

“I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.”
Psalm 40:8

If it’s in the heart and we have it seen it expounded from the Old Testament Scriptures, why would we need something else?  The answer is, we don’t.  Only the followers of false gods need something else.  Those following false gods need something else because the True God’s Scriptures don’t apply.  It’s as simple as this – if you don’t live in Britain, British laws don’t apply to you, so you need your own set of laws.

In fact, the laws you follow say a lot about the one to whom you are loyal.  If you follow God’s laws (of the Bible), then you are His and your fruits show it.  If you follow the laws of Islam, then you belong to that god and your fruits show it (and the fruits were shown again just yesterday with the bombings at the Boston Marathon).  If your god allows you to lie, you are not serving the God of the Bible.  Look through all the books you have, the Reliance of the Traveller, the Hadith, whatever…you won’t find Him, because…

Jesus is NOT in the Quran!
